- Stupid mistake...paid 2100 cash to a "friend" with a contractor's license for a deck rebuild. He replaced half of it, it's 10" out of code and he left the rotted supports underneath it. One year later, no rail and the stairs are splitting. Never got sealed.

- Subprime and on time, no PMI required, no escrow required, and for every year I pay on time my APR is reduced. Financially secure for life but far from monetarily rich--my wealth lies in the wonderful friends and family in my life.

- No PMI required, reduction of APR for every year I pay consistently on time, and no Escrow required. Glad I went with the bank I did!

- Gee, the overwhelming response to finding lead in old paint was to remove it and repaint. The response to the revelation of the dangers of asbestos was to level or upgrade buildings and (not so many) older homes.

- I've noticed that whenever the state or national government touts "We've got the best ..." that's when you need to get nervous, folks--it's a smokescreen.

- Trichloroethene leads to non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in women. I developed it in 2008, having been exposed to it in the mid-80s in the military when it was not a known carcinogen.

- I am so proud of all the military women out there pounding out a mission and enduring extreme conditions. I served my 20 years and can relate to some of the stuff that is unique to being a female troop.
